MERINGUE

3 egg whites

1/4 t. cream of tartar

1/8 t. salt

6 T. sugar

1/2 t. vanilla

Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until stiff peaks form.  Gradually beat in two tablespoons of sugar at a time.  Beat in vanilla.  Spread over pie mixture and swirl to make peaks.  Bake in 325 degree oven until lightly browned or about 20 minutes.
