TURTLE CAKE

1 box German Chocolate cake mix

1 bag (14 oz.) caramel

1/2 c. evaporated milk

3/4 c. melted butter

1 c. chocolate chips

2 c. nuts

Prepare cake mix using package directions.  Pour half of batter in greased 9 X 13 cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.  Melt caramels with milk and butter in pan over low heat, stirring constantly.  Pour over cake.  Sprinkle 1 cup nuts and 1 cup of chocolate chips then pour remaining batter over filling.  Sprinkle with remaining nuts and bake 20 minutes.  Cool before cutting into squares.
